Coronavirus Nerve Centre Organisation – 7th Update

Further to our last memo, on 10th May APS leadership held the 7th meeting of Coronavirus Nerve Centre Organisation. The purpose of meeting was to assess the latest situation and determine the best course of action. As always, our top priority is the health and well-being of our students and staff members. At the same time we want to ensure that we do all we can to continue life as normal.

Below a list of key takeaways form the meeting:

  1. School reopening is delayed till 15th July. We understand this new date could also change and we feel the most likely scenario is to reopen on 17th August. As always we will be guided by Government announcements.
  2. We have a robust planning model that caters for 4 different scenarios of ‘Back to School’ dates.
  3. Our detailed and well timed planning for all scenarios means that APS students will have the same number of teaching days in 2020-21 as they had in 2019-20 session. We are committing to this and we will deliver on this promise. Coronavirus emergency need not result in any loss of time for our students.
  4. Our staff continues to work hard in delivering live on line classes and being prepared for reopening.
  5. Metric and College admissions are open.
  6. Parents are requested to follow Government directives regarding Coronavirus precautionary steps when visiting school office.
